This collaborative Imperial Stout presents a masterful display of barrel integration, having rested for nine months in freshly emptied Portuguese tawny port barrels. The sensory profile is defined by a luxurious depth of roasted malts providing a foundation for intense vinous character. Primary cues of stewed cherries, raisins, and spiced red fruits emerge from the wood, mingling with notes of dark chocolate and espresso. At 13.4% ABV, the beer offers a significant but well-integrated warmth. The absence of adjuncts allows the pure artistry of the port-seasoned oak to shine, resulting in a complex, harmonious, and sophisticated drinking experience.
