Heavy Trooper is a decadent Wee Heavy that commands attention with a rich tapestry of deep malt and barrel influence. Nine months in Whisky barrels imparts complex notes of charred oak, vanilla, and a distinct spirit-forward warmth that melds seamlessly with the base's profound maltiness. Expect layers of dark toffee, caramelized sugar, and toasted breadcrumbs, reminiscent of traditional Scottish Pale Ale malt profiles. Hints of dried plum and raisin emerge from the high-gravity fermentation, while the finish is defined by a lingering, smooth alcohol presence and a whisper of peaty smoke from the casks, rather than the malt itself.
