This imperial-strength Baltic Porter, a collaboration between De Molen and Yria, presents a decadent fusion of deep malt complexity and Islay whisky character. Having matured in Bowmore barrels, the beer radiates aromas of campfire smoke, iodine, and sea salt, which weave through a base of rich molasses and dark chocolate. The palate is velvety, revealing layers of dried plums, licorice, and vanilla-soaked oak. Despite its 10.1% ABV, it remains remarkably smooth, balancing the sweetness of dark Munich and crystal malts against a subtle, peaty finish that lingers with a sophisticated, warming glow and a touch of roasted bitterness.
